Poultry Egg Education Project

The mission of our Poultry Egg Education Project (PEEP) is to increase local egg production, boost our local economy, and support our participants in their business goals. This program, which Sust’āinable Molokai piloted with our community, has received statewide funding and is being rolled out on neighboring islands.

The PEEP 2023 Cohort application has closed.

‍

We have 10 Native beginning farmers participating in the Molokai PEEP 2023 Cohort.

Participants receive $2,500 in start-up equipment and supplies, including 24 chicks, chick & pullet care starter packages (brooder box, feeding/watering supplies, feed), building materials for a stationary OR Mobile chicken coop (both inclusive of chicken runs)

PEEP is an 8-month educational program on commercial chicken egg production, utilizing a blend of in-person & Zoom classes, including:

6 Workshops with Maxie Asagi of Asagi Hatchery
7 Additional Workshops/ Follow-up Check-in sessions w/PEEP support team
2 Chicken Foraging & Feed workshops with CTAHR
3 Field Trips to past cohorts' chicken farms
Farm Business Support (G.E license, business plan, & 1-on-1 consultations with a Farm Biz Specialist
A built-in market for eggs to ensure egg sales while you stabilize and grow your business.
A cohort-style model that encourages farmer-to-farmer support & collaborative sales methods
Supplies to get your chicken egg business up and running.

And... a built-in market that supports business growth!
